Holidays in Chania

The city of Chania is in itself a unique experience with numerous monuments and attractions, beautiful alleys, taverns and shops.

While walking in Chania, don't miss to visit the Municipal Market, the Municipal Garden, the Venetian port, the Firka fortress with the Maritime Museum, the Fountain, the Giali Mosque, the Venetian Youth and the Great Arsenal and of course the Lighthouse.
Of particular interest is the old Turkish quarter of Splantzia, today called "square 1821", as well as the Metropolis of Chania and the Monastery of Saint Francis of the Franciscans, which today houses the Archaeological Museum of Chania



The community of Gramvousa, to the west of Kissamos, includes the entire rocky peninsula of Korykos (also known as the peninsula of Gramvousa), where Mount Geroskinos (762m.) dominates, and the two desert areas of Imeri Gramvousa and Agria Gramvousa.

The village of Gramvousa is located at a distance of 8 km. southwest of Kissamos, following the road to Platanos. With 131 inhabitants, it is the capital of the community, to which other settlements also belong.

Samaria Gorge

Walkers from all over the world come to Chania to cross the Samaria Gorge, which usually starts from the plateau of Omalos in the White Mountains, in the area of Xyloskalo (1,200 m altitude) and ends at the seaside village of Agia Roumeli in the south of the prefecture of Chania.

The Samaria Gorge is the largest in Greece, with a length of 18 kilometers and its descent takes from 4 to 7 hours depending on the experience and endurance of the hikers.


Chora Sfakia

Sfakia is a historical region of southwestern Crete, with a distinct character and a glorious cultural past. Chora Sfakion, a welcoming and unassuming traditional village, is the capital and seat of the province and municipality of Sfakion and is built around a coastal port.

The whole of Sfakia is known for its natural beauty, beautiful beaches and the incredible view of the White Mountains of Crete.
